FAQs

What is The Makery?

It is a place where people can, and frequently do, stop by just to chat ideas and dream up new projects. It is a place where we try new things, regardless of the outcome, because you’ll never be successful at something without first trying. Lastly, it is a place where all judgment is held at the front door. You’re welcome to pick it back up on your way out, but I’m hoping I’ll be able to leave it behind.

What do you do at The Makery?

We make stuff. All kinds of it. From resin to polymer clay to screen printing to lino carving to sewing to, to, to… And always coming up with more things. Check out the upcoming workshops and see what we’re making now.

Who teaches at The Makery?

For the most part, I (Anna) teach the workshops. I teach myself (often through trial and error because I forget about the internet) and then streamline the projects to design and schedule workshops. Am I an expert? No. Do I have a dedication and problem solving complex that drives me to figure out everything I set out to do? Yes.

Can I teach at the Makery?

Absolutely. I love hosting other makers who want to share their skills. If you’re interested in teaching a workshop, shoot me an email: makeit@themakery.space. It’s a 75/25 split. The instructor keeps 75% of the workshop ticket sales and 25% goes to The Makery.

How much reptile interaction occurs at The Makery?

Oh my god, so much bearded dragon interaction you’re gonna want one. Lily is the soul of The Makery.

Where the hell do I park?

I won’t sugar coat it - parking around The Makery can be challenging. There is street parking in the surrounding neighborhood and some parking in the lot behind the building. Best to plan to give yourself a few extra minutes to find a spot before heading into a workshop.

How do I find The Makery?

It’s inside a hidden gem of a courtyard with flowers and birds and sometimes a bearded dragon. Step on into little Bavaria and find The Makery in the upstairs of the middle building. Look for the signage and you’ll find it.

How long do workshops last?

I typically schedule workshops for a minimum of 2 hours. This allows for instruction, material discussions and distribution, and work time. The time for each workshop depends on the project, so be sure to look at the scheduled time on the specific workshop you’ve signed up for.

What is the social environment of the workshops?

Chill. It’s so chill. People come with friends and many people come alone. Regardless of who you show up with, you’ll be making new acquaintances before you leave. Fully expect Lily to make a social appearance as well.

Can I bring beverages or snacks?

Bring whatever you’d like. I am not licensed to serve anything “fun” but you’re more than welcome to bring and consume your own. You can even stop by one of the local shops in St. Anthony Park before you head over. Marigold is a local bottle shop with delicious beverages in both NA and THC options. The Little Wine Shoppe has all the best local breweries in their refrigerators and walls of wine. Healing Elements has plenty of You Betcha in stock if you’re looking for more THC.

Snacks will depend on the workshop. If we’re playing around with things that shouldn’t go in your mouth, maybe plan on eating beforehand. You could stop at Nico’s Tacos right next door and grab a bite before we get going. I’m there frequently so maybe we’ll run into each other! (Wait, no! I have a workshop to prep for!)

Does The Makery do private events?

Sure do! We host private events all the time in the studio but we also travel. Corporate event? Bridal shower? Crafting group? Brewery pop up? All of it. I’ve gotten good at packing up my truck and bringing a bit of the Makery out into the world.
