About

The Makery

The Makery came into being after quite the journey: from art school to criminology and then back to art again, owner Anna Gaseitsiwe (me), has amassed a collection of random experiences. But at the heart of it all, I am always driven by ingenuity and creativity.

After leaving a career in corporate banking and Anti-Money Laundering, I set out to find my place in the world of art. I learned to make hyper-realistic paper flowers and launched A Paper Florist. Through this venture, I honed skills for fine detail and perfection.

While working as A Paper Florist I met so many incredible and talented people in all mediums. One chance Instagram message from a fellow artist set a whole new path for my career. In 2020, just before the COVID pandemic, my friend and I opened Studios Moss. This business (still operated by Suzanne Casler) consisted of an ever-evolving list of projects. From massive mall installations to floral resin-poured swing sets, we never stopped learning and growing.

In the summer of 2022, I knew I needed to open a studio where I could explore and share this knowledge of creating with other like-minded makers. Thus, I opened The Makery.

While I continue to create with the approach that “anything goes” in my spare time, I also operate ATMOS Design Co, a creative design agency alongside a team of dreamers and visionaries.
